Treadwell House.jpg

Our Home

Constructed in 1907, this historic home was the original dwelling of the Joel F. Treadwell family. Joel, as a mere 8-year-old, journeyed from Texas to the Territory of Washington in a covered wagon, eventually settling in Cashmere in 1887. The Treadwells purchased a 160-acre property west of the town from the Northern Pacific Railroad, and commenced to construct this home. This land, rich in timber and dotted with springs, later provided fine drinking water to many settlers on Pioneer Avenue.

For many years, the homestead served as the community post office and earned the moniker “Half Way House,” becoming a haven for stages, freighters, and weary travelers seeking a meal and a good night’s rest.

Over the years, the house changed hands several times before it was transformed into a bed and breakfast in the 1990s, catering to visitors drawn to the picturesque town of Cashmere. In 2000, the Crossland family purchased the property and lovingly restored it to its original purpose - a family home.

Our Family

For over twenty-five years, and despite many of life’s twists, turns, and adventures, Ian and Wendy Crossland have called this property home. Together with their four adult children, Coral, Maude, Calvin, and Sebastian (Zebby), representing a 4th generation of Crosslands in Cashmere, they are eager to open their doors to you for your special event.

Our Willow Tree

In the summer of 2005, just weeks after the passing of Ian’s mother, Kris Crossland, this willow tree appeared in our backyard as a volunteer, sprouting magically near one of our irrigation spigots. Over the past twenty years, the tree has grown with our family, serving as a focal point to many family gatherings and events, and as a beautiful reflection of the presence and love we have and feel from those we have lost.
